Safety Shield 360 is a comprehensive system that looks in front, behind, and beside the vehicle, while it drives, using cameras, radar technology, and sonar. This collection of six innovative Nissan Intelligent Mobility features monitors the environment around the car and can intervene to keep you safe. These features include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, High Beam Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Rear Automatic Braking.
If the system identifies a risk of colliding with a vehicle or pedestrian in front of the automobile, the driver will receive visible and audible warnings, as well as light, automatic braking. This is intended to draw the driver's attention and encourage them to take action to avoid a collision. If the driver fails to decelerate and the likelihood of an accident increases, the system will automatically deploy emergency braking just before the crash. This will aid in avoiding or reducing the collision's damage.
The system visually monitors the traveling lane's left and right side lane markings. The technology flashes an indicator and emits a warning chime if the vehicle is in danger of leaving the traveling lane unintentionally. Only when lane markers are clearly visible on the road does the system work correctly. On some models, the steering wheel vibrates (haptic sensation), and a visual indication is presented to grab the driver’s attention. The technology uses a front-mounted camera in the upper area of the windscreen to verify that the vehicle is within the traveling lane's white (or yellow) lane markers.
When there is a risk of an accident with a vehicle crossing into the reversing vehicle's rearward path, this technology alerts the driver with an auditory alert. When the car is reversing and radar sensors detect an oncoming vehicle approaching from the left or right, the system emits an audible warning and flashes a warning indicator on the same side of the approaching vehicle's door mirror.
When an approaching or leading vehicle is recognized, the headlights are automatically shifted from high to low beam. The headlight setting will switch back to high beam if the oncoming vehicle is no longer present or if the leading vehicle is at a safe distance ahead. When low light is detected while driving with the headlight switch in the "auto" position, the vehicle's high beams will remain on.
